Privacy policy

Account information

When you create an account we store:

• Email address, name, and profile image.
• A password hash, if you sign up with email. We do not store the password itself.
• Whether your email is verified, your role, and, if it applies, a ban time and reason.

If you sign in with Google, we receive the account id, email, name, and profile image Google shares with us, and we store the sign-in tokens Google provides so the session can continue.

Payments

Plot subscriptions and floor purchases are processed by Stripe. We store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers so we know which storefront is paid for. Stripe collects your card details. We do not store card numbers.

Listings and requests

Storefront fields you publish are visible to anyone: business name, description, logo, website, social links, street address, phone, and a public contact email. We also store claim details and ban-review notes you submit to us. Those notes are not shown on the public map.

How the directory is used

When someone opens a storefront, we count a view for that business. When a search shows businesses, we store the search phrase with those impressions so owners can see which terms found them. Those records are tied to the business, not to a visitor's account. We do not store IP addresses for this.

Cookies

A session cookie keeps you signed in. It is required for an account. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

Email

We send verification messages and account notices through Resend. Stripe may also email receipts for payments.

Service providers

We use these companies to run ByteBorough:

• Stripe, for payments.
• Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
• Resend, for email.
• Railway, to host the application.
• Neon, to host the database.
• Cloudflare, for DNS and HTTPS.

We share account and listing information with them only so they can provide those services.

How long we keep it

We keep account and billing records while the account is open, and longer when we need them for taxes, disputes, or a ban. You can delete an account from the dashboard. That cancels its plot leases and clears those lots. Admin accounts are not deleted from the dashboard. Email [email protected] if you need help with a listing or an account.

Children

ByteBorough is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
